Leporello

"Because I could not stop for Death, he kindly stopped for me" - Emily Dickinson.

I visited Iraqi Kurdistan twice: in 2017 and 2018. This handmade leporello gives an impression of these journeys and my encounters with female Pehsmerga fighters. I shot the 30 portraits and landscapes on film and printed all postcard-size photos in my own darkroom. The outcome: this leporello, is a celebration of handlabor, not 'just' a book, but a true work of art. Each copy unique. The book will be delivered in a cardboard cassette for protection and storage. The edition is 25. Last copies left. An ode to analog photography in a digital age.
